Of all the types of stuffed animals out there, teddy bears are among the most popular. Both boys and girls alike enjoy them while they are little. They may carry the teddy bear around, have tea parties with it, and then snuggle up with it for bed at night. Adults love teddy bears too as they are so soft and cute. They make really nice gifts for just about any occasion you can think of. What makes teddy bears so intriguing is the facial designs of them. They are all so different from each other that it gives your teddy bear a very unique look.
You may not know that the idea for the teddy bear come from President Theodore Roosevelt. He refused to shoot a bear while on a hunting trip. Many people where taken in by his compassion towards the animal. This was in 1902 and cartoonists make a very sweet looking bear in pictures with the President. By 1903 these stuffed animals were in high demand and toy companies were doing all they could to keep them on the shelves.
One of the biggest hits now with teddy bears is to build your own. Many malls feature them and you get to choose the style of bear you want. You then get to fill it up with stuffing and choose an outfit for it. Most outlets offer plenty of extra outfits too if you want to take some more home with you. They have really cute jeans, shirts, dresses, caps, shoes, and even cheerleading outfits to choose from. After you have completed your teddy bear you get a birth certificate with the name you choose and the date of birth. This is a really fun activity for parents and children to enjoy together.
Many things have come and gone in our society of the years, but the teddy bear has never wavered. It has always been a favorite since the moment they were introduced. They are beloved stuffed animals that often have many wonderful memories associated with them. Teddy bears come in all sizes and in a variety of colors. Some of them are designed for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day and Christmas. Some fire departments give them out to children that have been involved in a fire as a symbol of support.
