Mexican Pyramids

The Egyptians weren’t the only ones that built amazing pyramids in ancient times. Even though theirs remain to be the most recognized in the world, the Mayan culture also built them. They were more for living and for protection though than they were built for religious reasons. Many of the Mayan pyramids are well preserved and you can view them.

The majority of these structures are found in various areas of Mexico. For many people, this is a distance they can travel easier than going to Egypt. This is a wonderful way to explore the various aspects of the Mexican culture. A great deal of artifacts and information have been secured from the various Mexican pyramids.

The most recognized Mexican pyramid is known as Teotihuacán. It is believed there is still a great deal of information here for us to learn about. The problem is that there are languages that haven’t been successfully deciphered. As a result the early writings remain a huge mystery. The people that once lived in this area mysteriously disappeared. It is believed that what was going on with them may be written here.

Many of the Mexican pyramids are more than 1,500 years old, so there is a lot of history that they contain. It is believed on day researchers will find the answers to their questions by unlocking keys to the written language. In the mean time there is speculation that the people moved on in search of food. Since no bodies remained it is not believed that they died in war or due to illness.

There is plenty of information to suggest that human sacrifices took place at all of the different Mexican pyramid locations. The bodies of those that were sacrificed were often placed inside of tombs that were part of the pyramids. It is not know exactly why their bodies were kept instead of burned after the sacrifice was made.
