Upside Of Anger

The Upside of Anger is a movie that was released in 2005. It was one of the most surprising hits of 2005. Starring Kevin Costner and Joan Allen as the lead characters, it takes us on an emotional journey through life. The movie also has plenty of times where humor is present. This helps to keep the movie from getting too in depth and it keeps the audience lighthearted through it.

The movie tells the story about a mother and her four daughters. They all remember her as a fun loving woman who would do anything for them. However, that all changed when their dad ran out on them. He left to be with his secretary whom he had been having a long term affair with.

While their lives continue to go in different directions, each of them is at a loss for their relationship with their mother. Seeing her angry all the time is very hard for them to handle. They long for the days before when they were a true family. As they reflect on this though each of the girls also struggles with anger issues of their own.

Some of the time it is aimed at their father for what he did. At other times it is aimed at their mother for the ways in which she has changed. They finally acknowledge that their mother played a role in their dad leaving due to her excessive drinking. She also begins to criticize everything her daughters do with their own lives.

Through the connection they all make with a family friend who is played by Costner, the four girls and their mother learns to laugh and to love again. They learn to accept each other for who they are. They learn to enjoy their special gifts and to chase their own dreams.

There are plenty of surprises to be found in the Upside of Anger. I won’t share them here with you so as to not spoil the movie for you. However, this is a great film that you should watch if you haven’t already done so. It may give you some revelations into your own life and how you deal with anger as well.
