5 Ways Of Monetizing Your Blog

As much as blogging is fun and addictive, as an internet marketer we are ultimately doing it to make money and get exposure for our businesses. Blogging is a great way of making money online, driving traffic to your websites and capturing the email addresses of your prospects.

Here are 5 ways of monetizing your blog today:

1. Add an opt-in box

If you are building a mailing list (and you REALLY should be) then in my opinion this is the single best way of monetizing your blog – full stop. Simply add an opt-in box to your blogs homepage and begin capturing the names and email addresses of your visitors. After they have opted-in you can immediately present them with an upsell or one-time offer and once they are on your mailing list you can be marketing to them for years to come. Your subscribers are very valuable to you indeed!

2. Google Adsense

Probably the easiest way of monetizing your blog is to sign up for Google Adsense. You get paid a small amount of money every time somebody clicks on one of the ads (although remember never to click on your own as this is a surefire way to get banned from Adsense!)

3. Links to your own products and affiliate products

Links can be placed within the body text of your blog posts or within the actual blog template. If you don’t have your own products to sell then a good thing to do is post the odd affiliate link to products which relate to the subject of your blog. Let’s say you’ve just written a post about email marketing – simply recommend an email marketing product or course which you know is useful. Of course links can also take the form of banner ads too – for example in the sidebar of your blog.

4. Selling adspace

Once you reach a point where your blog is receiving a decent amount of traffic and has a good readership following you can start selling advertising space on your blog. People like advertising on blogs because the visitors are usually highly targeted and if it’s a decent blog people often check back on a regular basis to look for new posts.

5. Selling your blog

A blog which makes money is highly valuable to other marketers and there are plenty of people out there who run businesses buying and selling blogs. You can create a blog with the sole intention of selling it in a few weeks or months down the line (have a look on the web for blog flipping) or you may simply reach a point where you realize that your blog is worth more to somebody else than it is to yourself.
